Information and Guidelines

The inaugural year of the Snake Bite Triathlon is officially sold out. With Sunday fast approaching, we wanted to have everyone review a few guidelines and bits of general information.

Forecast - probably a little early for a forecast, but so far looking good.

Click here to get directions to Lake End Park/Morgan City from your location.

Packet pick-up - Registrants can pick up packets on Saturday 8/22 at Cycles N Boardz in Morgan City from 2pm-5pm (click here for map), or race morning beginning at 6am.

Training – Triathlons can be extremely strenuous events. Triathletes must be in excellent health and fully trained which requires extensive preparation in all three activities: swim, bike, and run. Temperatures on race day are expected to be in the high 80’s to mid 90’s with high humidity. Triathletes are ultimately responsible for their own safety. Everyone should try to drink plenty of fluids Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning before the race. You should also try to eat a carbohydrate rich diet Saturday.

USAT license – All competitors are required to show their USAT license upon checking in. You will not be able to register without your USAT card and your driver's license.

Alcohol - Beer will be served at the post-race party, but only to individuals over 21. At packet pick up, you will be asked to show proof of age and will be given a yellow wrist band which will be required to get beer. Please have a great time, but drink responsibly. Any questions, ask Dusty, our beer coordinator - see above picture.

Parking - You will be directed to park outside of the main areas of Lake End Park. Please be sure to arrive a few minutes early to allow yourself time to park and walk over to registration.

Start time/transition – The race will start at 8:00 a.m. Registration and transition will open at 6:00 a.m. Transition will close at 7:45 a.m. Transition is for participants only. Race finishers will not be allowed back into transition until all bikers have transitioned to the run.

Restrooms – There will be park restroom facilities and port-o-lets at Lake End Park. There will also be a port-o-let at the half way point on the bike.

Medical attention – first aid will be available for competitors in Lake End Park near transition.

Swim course – The swim course is a 400m triangular “clockwise” course. There will be 3 waves as follows:
Wave 1 – males 34 and younger
Wave 2 – males 35 and older
Wave 3 – all females
All competitors must keep the orange marker buoys to their right going out and back. Wetsuits are not allowed. Kayaks and other boats will be in the water to assist if needed. You may rest by holding on to the side of a kayak/boat if needed.

Bike course – The bike course is a 13 mile out and back course up La Hwy 70. Traffic will not be closed. All competitors are required to wear a helmet that meets ANSI standards, with chinstraps fastened at all times. There will be a water station at the half way point

Run course – The run course is a 2 mile out and back course down Fig Street. There will be a water station at the half way point.

Post race activities – There will be a post-race party with food, drink, and music starting at 9:00 a.m. at the pavilion at Lake End Park. The award ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. Beer will be served only to individuals over 21 years of age who have a yellow wrist band (wrists bands will be given at registration with age verification).

Volunteers – Remember that each person working the course is a volunteer. Please thank them - without them, this race would not be possible.

Our biggest concern going in to this event is for everyone's safety. Please also review the following documents:

  1. I purchased my registration through Active.com and with that the $10 day pass for USAT, but I don't have a physical USAT membership card. Can I just bring my Active.com receipt or is there a place where I can print the day pass? Thank you kindly!

We should be able to tell from your registration that you have the one day membership, but bring your receipt to be sure.

    Thanks
