Snake Bite Training 2010

Today was an awesome day for swim training. There was a nice turn out of swimmers and kayakers.

The course was a 200 out and back for a total distance of 400 yards.

Enjoying some rest after the swim.

Some did the course more than once.

The swim exit.

Some left right after swimming, and some went out on the bike and run courses. The post race party pavilion is seen in the background.

All in all, it was a great training day and some good ole triathlon comraderie. Looking forward to seeing more participants during the next training days in 2 weeks!

2010 Practice Open Water Swim

There will be a practice open water swim on the Snake Bite Triathlon swim course on 3 different dates. The first will be Sunday May 23 at 1pm, the second will be Saturday June 5 at 9am, and the third on Sunday June 6 at 2pm. The swim will start at the Judges Stand at Lake End Park on La Hwy 70. The course will be a 200m out and back for a total of 400m. There will be kayakers in the water for support. Everyone will need goggles and a swim cap to participate.

Be sure to bring your bike and/or running shoes to get out on the other courses afterwards.

The city of Morgan City is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, and with the help of the Saint Mary Chamber of Commerce, has decided to help support the Snake Bite Triathlon as part of the celebration. We really appreciate their support!

Also, let your friends know to sign up for the Snake Bite Triathlon - we're filling pretty quickly!

2010 Registration Now Open!!

Registration for the 2010 Snake Bite Super Sprint Triathlon is now open!! For details about registration, click here.

Highlights of changes for 2010:
1. The swim course is being moved to a cooler, deeper section of the lake.
2. The run course will be through the beautiful Brownell Memorial Park and Carillon Tower.
3. A section of Lake End Park campground will be opened and reserved (at reasonable rates) for triathlon participants interested in camping for the weekend.

A lot of things will be the same. We're still planning an incredibly fun, safe, laid-back race. We're still going to have a rockin post race party with plenty of food, drink and music. We're still planning a nice goody bag, including a Headsweats visor, and plenty of door prizes. And we're still planning on tremendous support from our community, including some of the most generous sponsors and happiest volunteers you'll ever come across in any triathlon.

Click here to read our participant reviews from last year.

Check back here for more details. We look forward to seeing you at the race!

Race pictures

We've posted race pictures in an album for everyone to view/download if you'd like. Many thanks to Dr. Mel Bourgeois for spending his entire morning taking the pictures in this album. He tried his hardest to get every single person on the swim, the bike, and the run - I think he almost succeeded.

I will post more pictures in the future as I receive them from other "photographers" - check back on this blog.

Thanks for all of the positive feedback that we've gotten on the race. We really appreciate everyone's support!
